If you have grill, this is a pretty simple recipe. Dry the flank steak with paper towel, marinate with salt and pepper. Grill for about 5 minutes, let the meat rest, cut and serve. You can also serve as hand roll. This brand's roasted seaweed is very yummy (see the picture at the last page of the slide show)

This is a recipe that you can serve in two styles over two days. I did it on Thursday night so I have some left over for an easy meal on Friday when I don't want to cook at the end of a long week. Marinate the pork with salt generously overnight. You will see the salt melted and some liquid showed up the next morning. Rinse it before cooking. Put in Instant Pot at stew high pressure for 40 minutes. When done, let it cool off, use fork to pull the meat apart. Because the salt has marinated the meat overnight, the taste will be very good as is. You can serve right away without adding any sauce. I save half for the following day and add BBQ sauce, serve with udon and garnish with cucumber.

This is an Instant Pot recipe. I used the short rib from Costco, marinate with black bean sauce overnight. Use Instant Pot stew feature, 35 minutes at high pressure. The rib would become very tender and the bones will fall right off. Pull out the bones and garnish with asparagos.

Marinate the beef with salt and pepper. Use Instant Pot sautee feature to brown it with garlic. Set aside. Put in onion to de-gaze. Add carrot, celery, potato, soy sauce, ketch. Put the browned beef on top. Add half cup of chicken brooth. Set Instant Pot stew feature for 30 minutes.

For those who have Instant Pot, this is a good time reference. Use BBQ sauce to marinate the ribs, put in the Instant Pot stew option high pressure for 15 minutes. Then put another layer of BBQ sauce, put in oven for 10 minutes at 450F. The texture came out perfect. Very tender.

For those who love steak but don't want to make the kitchen too smokey, thin steak is a nice alternative. I got it from Nobhill. Their thin cut has perfect thickness. Marinate it with olive oil and black pepper. Rub it generously with salt. Hit the wok with high heat. It should caramelize fast. Because it's very thin, it will cook through fairly quickly.

To garnish, use a small cup to mold the rice. Drizzle a few drops of ketchup. Make your loved ones feel the love through the extra touches of thoughtfulness (but get these all done before cooking steaks, serve the steak hot right off wok would be the most yummy). If time allows, let the steak marinate for half hour or so before cooking. The cooking time is very short, should be done when the steak turns brown. Enjoy!

I tried this recipe tonight, turned out great and the process is easier than I thought. I modified it based on the recipes from the two links below. Instead of cooking it for long, I simplified the process in three steps. This will be a good choice on a busy weekend when you are in and out of house, but don't have time to watch the stove.

1. Marinate the ribs with quite a bit of chicken powder and salt for one hour. I used the Korean beef rib from Costco instead of the traditional Chinese kind. It cooks faster. (Since the meat is marinated before cooking, it does not rely on the process as much and can speed up).

2. Let it sit inside the thermo (炆燒煲) to make the meat tender for two hours. I use the thermo instead of stove so I don't have to watch it. Make sure you have enough water to keep the temperature. Discard the water afterward. (Because the water will be discarded afterward, you can afford using more chicken powder and salt to begin with, coz most of them would be washed away in the process).

3. Add the spices and chicken soup for the final steps. This is the step to put the final taste together. Play around the portion of the spices to suit your taste.

I cook the daikon separately and mix them with the soup base at the end. The brand of pho is very tender. It is a one-dish dinner that brings heart-felt feeling on a rainy night. Give it a try.

This would be a great arrangement when you are short of time to cook a real meal. I got the Raley brand of cooked rib from Nobhill (see the package in the picture). Just need to warm it up. It looks pretty much like home cook. The 唐篙 takes no time to cook. Add some egg at the end and turn off stove to let it stand a bit before serving. Within 20 mins, you have a somewhat home cook meal. 嘩啦!

This is a 15-minutes quick fix dinner that my family loves. Give it a try. You can even squeeze in a few minutes of multi-tasking email checking while you wait for the water to boil. Use the 7% fat beef, boil it first, rinse it before you stir fry, add Ketchup and soy sauce. Try the 頭遍老抽, it tastes much better than the regular one.
